Trouble Shooting Problems
1. My brand new Scooter will not start after taking it out of its shipping
carton.
Make sure you have charged the batteries. It the scooter
will still not start then it may be a problem with the Safety Kill Switch
built into the X-360 Brake Handle. During shipment the safety switch sometimes
becomes engaged and will prevent the Scooter from starting. This is a
simple fix. Simply loosen the brake adjustment located on the handle bar
and slightly turn it to relieve the cable tension on the brake adjustment.
That will also relieve tension on the Safety Kill Switch and if it was
engage that will disengage it. Re-tighten the brake adjustment and then
try starting the Scooter. If it will not start you may not have lessen
the tension enough, try again and restart. If the Scooter still will not
start, it may be necessary to disconnect the kill switch to determine
if it is the cause of the problem. The Kill Switch is located in the Battery
Compartment. Block up the rear part of the Scooter so the back wheel does
not touch the ground. Then open the battery cover and locate the wires
marked Brake and unplug the connector. This will disconnect the Kill Switch.
Then turn the key on and advance the throttle a little and if see if the
rear wheel turns. If it does you will know the kill switch is still engaged.
If the motor does not start running after disconnecting the kill switch,
then there is a problem within the electrical system. Don't forget to
reconnect the brake wire connectors.
2. I never had a problem with my Scooter not starting but now it will
not start.
First thing to consider is a blown fuse, before checking
it make sure you have turned the key off and removed it. Locate the fuse,
if you do not know where it is located, check you Scooter Manuel, remove
it to see if the fuse has blown. If it has blown then the small internal
wire will be burnt and broken. Replace the fuse, making sure you replace
it with the correct amperage as specified in your manual. If you don't
have spare fuses you can buy them at any hardware or automotive shop.
If the fuse turns out not be the problem then the next thing to consider
is a battery or electrical problem and possible it could be a bad charger
or the fuse in the charger has blown.
WARNING! See Scooter Safety Page before working with the Scooter Batteries.
Batteries contain a very corrosive acid and working with them can be very
dangerous. Trouble shooting batteries and electrical systems usually requires
a knowledgeable technician, with the appropriate tools and test equipment.
A simple test that you can perform to see if you have
a battery problem is to turn on the key and see if you can start the scooter,
if not then try the lights and see if they will come on and shine with
normal brightness. If the Scooter will not start and the lights will not
come on or they are very dim then hook up the charger for 30 to 60 minutes
for a quick charge. Disconnect the charger and see if you can start the
Scooter. If it will not start then check to see if the lights come one.
If they do there must be a problem with getting power to the motor. If
the lights will not come on you may have either a battery problem, a charger
problem or some other problem with the electrical system. If you determine
you have any of these problems it is advised that you take your Scooter
to a repair shop and let them test everything to determine what the problem
is. If you do take your Scooter to a repair shop, be sure to take a copy
of your Electrical Wiring Schematic (wiring diagram) with you so the technician
can track down all the different circuits for testing. Also make sure
you take your charger with you so it can be checked.
3. The Scooter stop running after a short distance and I can't start
it again.
